La Fashion Week by Elie Kuame is West Africa’s leading fashion event uniting established and emerging designers to celebrate African creativity, craftsmanship, and innovation. Founded by internationally renowned designer Elie Kuame, and held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, the event brings together renowned and emerging designers from across the continent to showcase, while fostering industry growth through panels, workshops, and exclusive networking experiences.

Beyond fashion, La Fashion Week is committed to impactful causes, including breast cancer awareness, positioning Abidjan as a vibrant capital of African fashion.

The week also features prestigious competitions—the Marie-Thérèse Houphouët-Boigny Honor Award and the Dominique Ouattara Excellence Award—providing young talents with mentorship, resources, and global exposure.

A Rising Africa

Africa is experiencing a surge in its creative industries, which are gaining traction both continentally and globally. Major events such as Lagos and Dakar Fashion Week illustrate this boom. Elie Kuame’s brand aligns with this momentum, standing out for its excellence and international recognition.

RETROSPECTIVE

Before looking ahead to “The New Future,” a retrospective will honor iconic figures who have shaped Ivorian fashion. Designers such as Mickael Kra, Chris Seydou, Pathé’O, and Alphadi will be celebrated, offering a deep dive into the heritage and influences of local fashion.

EMERGING TALENT COMPETITION

Marie-Thérèse Houphouët-Boigny Competition On October 11, 2024, young designers will compete for the Marie-Thérèse Houphouët-Boigny Honor Award. The winner will receive a scholarship, mentorship from the Elie Kuame house, and an internship opportunity in France.
